For most of my life I have worked either out a small office or my home. Today I went to start preparing my retail booth for my opening (October 2, 2009).There were at least 80 small business ventures setting up their booths at the same time. Across from my Live With Solar booth, my daughter is setting up her new line of men’s clothing. She is starting with an exclusive line of men’s tee shirts and soon will add more products. The booth next to us is called A Cupcake Affair, started by a lady chef that has always dreamed of having her own bakery.
You could feel the excitement in the air. For many of these entrepreneurs, this is the first step towards opening their own business.
We are in the people business and having the opportunity to meet 80 small businesses owners is priceless. All of us have the same goal, to succeed in a new venture. We will share our stories and perhaps discover other opportunities in our other endeavors. For some, this is a dream, a chance to own their own business and finally be financially able to quit an unsatisfying job.
For my daughter and I, it was the journey we took, as described in my book, Turn One Dollar into Thousands, that brought us to this point. Perhaps my book was not responsible for all the people in this group, but I bet is was a similar process.
I really believe that sometime, in the not to distant future, you will hear about one or more company that started in a booth in The Scottsdale Market Place and now are a nationwide, multimillion business.
“I’ve got my faults, but living in the past isn’t one of them. There’s no future in it.”
Have a great day!
