For many of us our new worth has decreased in the past few years. Between the stock market and the real estate devaluation, our retirement plan and even daily living is becoming a challenge. There is the constant worry that inflation will rear its ugly head and compound the problem. Job security is at best marginal and raises are few and far between.
We have options, and our best one is to create a second income. No, I don’t mean getting a second job; working another shift in a job you don’t like will only cause additional stress. The following outline may help you determine what that new business will be. Write answers to the following questions:
- If you had no limitation, what would be your ideal occupation?
- What are your hobbies?
- What are your strengths?
- In what area do you have expertise?
- Do you have a story to tell, perhaps an unwritten book? ( personal, family, or ????)
- For what advice and or help do your friends and family come to you?
- Who do you admire most in your circle of friends?
Complete this assignment, take several days to think about your answers. Now take your answers to your next business support group meeting, share your thoughts, listen to their advice and then get to work. What? you don’t have a business support group? Then get busy and start one. This group is a critical ingredient for success. Need help starting one? Call or e-mail me for start-up suggestions.
The greatest thing about the future is that it comes along day by day, and allows us the time to influence its outcome.
Have a great day!
