Running a business is almost a 24/7 undertaking. By the time we add family into the mix, it seems that all our time is used up.I classify a friend as a person you don’t have to pretend with; one that you feel comfortably calling at all hours of the night to pick you up if your car breaks down. A friend is someone with whom you share your joys and sorrows and you are always glad to see.
We are blessed, we have several couples that have been out true friends for years; we have vacationed together, raised our families together, but somehow our time together has been less and less as we all strive to keep up with the “economic rush” we find ourselves in.
We saw one of our special couple friends several weeks ago and lamented that fact that we don’t see each other as often as we should. They suggested that we set aside one hour a week and meet at one of our houses and have a glass of wine and snacks and really stay in touch. The following week they invited us to their home along with the rest of our close group and we visited about how we are doing, without any business discussion.
This evening we had the group at our house, (the hour turned into four) and have next weeks meeting already set up. I really believe that sharing your time with close friends does a lot to relax you and get your mind on the right path to deal with every day issues. Try getting of the race horse and slow down enough to appreciate your friends; you may find, like I did, that it may become the highlight of your week.
The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your time for them.
Have a great day!
