For many years I have been making notes pertaining to this subject; it may still appear at some future date in book form. The following are a few excerpts from my notes:
As a small business owner your personal discipline reflects on your business. If you behave a certain way, your business will do likewise. The building block of human life is LOVE and likewise, it exists for your business. You have to LOVE your business in order to succeed. When we Love something it is of value to us and when something is of value to us, we spend time with it. Good business discipline requires time. Spending time with your business will allow you to become aware of the needs of your business.
As with a child that grows into a successful adult because of consistent parental love, so your business will grow if you are willing to give it the “business love” that will help it to grow through the struggles that all new businesses ( and children) must endure.
Like an infant, a new business is quite helpless and is totally dependent and totally at the mercy of its owner. A business will sense the lack of “love” and will react contrary to the direction you want it to go.
If you don’t love what you are doing, quit and do something you love.
