Success in small business requires the owner to have an open mind and heart. God gave you two ears and one mouth so spend twice as much time listening than speaking. I am still very bothered by the fact that so many small business owners feel that they know everything or they are afraid to admit that they don’t know everything.
You can learn when someone says something “bad” about your business. It gives you an opportunity to perhaps cure a fault that you were unable to see.
Be open to suggestions, no matter the source. An outsider looking at the inside of your business can see a different picture than you can, looking at the inside from inside. Perhaps not all suggestions will result in a revolutionary idea that will propel your business into a multi-million enterprise, but there is one out there that will. You will never hear it unless your mind and heart are receptive to others and you accept the hand that is extended to you. The message is simple: You should listen to all comments, analyze them, discard some and implement others.
God is looking for people through whom He can do the impossible – what a pity that we plan only the things we can do by ourselves.
