The good, better and golden I am referring to is the number of people that you know that meet a certain criteria. Before I go any further, let me define my criteria:
- People that know who you are
- People that like to hear from you
- People with whom you have established a personal relationship
- People that you consider a true friend
- People that you can support in all their endeavors
- People that you have had contact with in the last six months
- People that will listen to you
- People that trust you
- People that will support you
These nine qualifiers represent the ideal test for building a loyal support team. Making a list of everyone you know without any qualifications will not allow you to focus on the support team you need to grow your business.
Those that pass this test are the ones on whom you can focus your energy. These are the people that need to know what you do, why you do it, the benefits your services or products offer and then how they can best help you grow your business.
Superficial acquaintances will not meet such a strict criteria, but the positive part is that you can nurture people. By hard work on your part, giving before receiving, you can grow your list to reach that golden 100 number.
Whatever your current number, this represents your business support team. Develop an ongoing communication process and let them know that they are in your Golden Support Circle. As stated above, make sure that they know all about your business and that they receive regular progress reports.
Our human nature compels us to help others and at the same time we need the recognition and the knowledge that we are truly helping someone we care for.
Never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead
