The biggest obstacle between you and your dreams for 2014 is you; if I had to name just one specific obstacle that many people have in common, it would be lack of self-discipline. Within that frame work the work accountability is included.
No hospital nursery has signs on the newborn baby’s crib that says if that baby will succeed in life. Success is something that you must want, something that you have to be passionate about.
Success starts with setting goals. Several weeks ago I posted a goal setting system on www.onebizcentral.com . If you are a subscriber please find it and follow the instructions.
My wife and I make nursing home visits to the elderly after church on Sunday morning. Time has a way of flying by us, as it has for those that we visit. Our time here is short and every day that is wasted by not pursuing your dreams is lost forever.
The start to goal-setting is to have no boundaries as you envision what your life will look like in two, three or five years. Take each area of your life, family, spiritual, physical and business and combine them into the vision. Keep that vision in a place that you can read it every day.
Self-doubt comes from excuses such as no money, no education, no talent, no time. So many highly successful people started their dream-chasing in this exact position. The difference is they focused on what they had, a vision, instead of what they didn’t have.
I bought a book over 20 years ago that still sits on my desk. it’s title is Do It. The inside page has the following quote: “Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable.” This quote came from Sydney Harris and it has served as a reminder for me to act now.
Spontaneity and creativity and success are closely tied together. Chase your dreams and surround yourself with people that can help you achieve those dreams. I don’t ever let my clients tell me why something can’t be done; I only want to hear how it can be done.
2014 is a blank canvas; how you color it is up to you.
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life… Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. Steve Jobs
