Many have died to give us this privilege. Memorial Day is a memory day; a day for us to remember and to give thanks for all those who have died protecting our freedom as well as for those who are still fighting and for those that have come home to re-establish their lives.
Those who have died will never have the experience of reaching all of their life’s goals. They gave up their lives in order for us to reach our own dreams.
Our country and our citizens are in need of a wakeup call. How many are living on welfare? How many gave up trying? How many think that they are owed a “free” living? How many don’t want to work at jobs that they feel are “beneath” them? How many walk in our streets asking for something, but won’t stoop to pick up trash in front of them?
We are upset at the number of deaths in our current wars, but don’t concern ourselves with the many more that are killed each year in our own communities. Our children and young people are becoming immune to violence with their video games and violent movies.
As a state we vote in a new law by a great majority only to have one person, a “judge” over rule us and say we are violating someone’s rights; what about ours? Family life is rapidly disappearing; in your own mind, what do you think is replacing it?
We are banishing God from our daily life, forget what the constitution says. He is no longer allowed in our schools or our public meetings, or in our public places. He is being left out of marriage commitment thus weakening the American core value, family life.
I could go on and on about how we are working at destroying the American way of life as envisioned when our country was founded, but we have another war to fight.
Our fight is to work hard and to reach our dreams in all aspects of our lives, both family and business. The secret is for us to take another person with us, to teach others about the benefits of having a dream and working towards it. It’s not going to be easy to find this person. Many don’t want to work that hard; they may not trust you, they may be afraid of the risk or have hundreds of other reasons for not joining you. Be persistent until you find that person you were meant to help.
If each of us reaches out, then together we can get America back on the Greatness Track it was meant to be on.
Be such a man, and live such a life, that if every man were such as you, and every life like yours, this earth would be God’s paradise. Phillips Brooks
